Sunrise and sunset in Finland – day length, twilight and golden hour
See when the sun rises and sets today anywhere in Finland, how long the day is and how much shorter or longer it gets tomorrow. Pick a town or use your location, and change the date to plan a trip.
The light band shows the whole day from night through twilight to daylight, and you can point at it to see the sun's altitude. You also get solar noon, the twilights, golden hour and blue hour for the morning and the evening, day length over the whole year, and the same day in ten places from Hanko to Utsjoki side by side. In Lapland the tool shows the polar night (kaamos), when the sun does not rise, and the midnight sun, when it does not set.

Civil twilight is when the sun is 0–6° below the horizon, nautical twilight 6–12° and astronomical twilight 12–18°. Here golden hour is when the sun is between 4° below and 6° above the horizon, and blue hour 4–6° below.
Sunrise and sunset are when the centre of the sun is 0.833° below the horizon, which accounts for refraction and the sun's radius. Hills, forest and buildings can hide the sun for longer.
