Finnish income tax calculator 2026 – take-home pay and marginal rate
Enter your monthly or annual gross salary and your municipal tax rate. The calculator shows your take-home pay, your overall tax rate and how much of the next euro you earn goes to taxes and contributions (the marginal rate, marginaalivero).
It counts state income tax, municipal tax (kunnallisvero), church tax if you are a member, the health insurance contributions (medical care and daily allowance contribution), the public broadcasting tax (Yle-vero) and the pension and unemployment insurance contributions your employer withholds from your pay. The automatic deductions are included: the deduction for the production of income (€750), the basic allowance and the employment income credit (työtulovähennys). The chart shows the marginal rate at every salary.
What is the marginal tax rate in Finland in 2026?
With the average municipal tax of 7.60%, the marginal rate is about 36% at a monthly salary of €2,500, 46% at €3,500 and 51% from €5,000 up. For a church member the top marginal rate is about 52%. The top bracket of the state scale is 37.5% in 2026, and the top marginal rate fell to about 52% from about 59% before. Your actual withholding rate is on your tax card (verokortti), which you get from MyTax (OmaVero). Sources: Finnish Tax Administration (Vero) and the Finnish Government, 2026.

All tools in English →The calculator uses the 2026 tax bases published by the Finnish Tax Administration. It assumes an employee aged 18 to 64 with no other income and no deductions beyond the automatic ones.
- State income tax (valtion tulovero): 12.64 / 19 / 30.25 / 33.25 / 37.5% by bracket.
- Municipal tax (kunnallisvero): your own municipality's rate, average 7.60%.
- Church tax (kirkollisvero) for members of the Lutheran or Orthodox church, average 1.38%.
- Health insurance contributions: medical care contribution 1.10% and daily allowance contribution 0.88%.
- Employee pension contribution (TyEL) 7.30% and unemployment insurance contribution 0.89%.
- Public broadcasting tax (Yle-vero): 2.5% of income above €15,150, at most €160.
Between €35,000 and €50,550 of net earned income the employment income credit shrinks by 2% of each extra euro, so the marginal rate is higher in that range than just above it. A raise never lowers your take-home pay.
The rate on your tax card is an estimate for withholding. If your income changes, update the tax card in MyTax (OmaVero) so that you do not pay too little or too much during the year.
